Northern Ireland Assembly passed a motion on the crisis in neurology services
As members of Northern Ireland Neurological Charities Alliance (niNCA) we are pleased to announce a major win for neurology patients in Northern Ireland.
Today, the Northern Ireland Assembly passed a motion on the crisis in neurology services. It'sa huge step forward for the thousands of people who have been abandoned by our broken system.
💔 Here's the reality from the neurology community:
‼️ 76% experienced delays accessing services
‼️ 74% said delays harmed their physical health
‼️ 77% reported worsening mental health
‼️ 50% felt unsupported after diagnosis
This is unacceptable — and today, MLAs agreed 🎉
💚 The Assembly has now formally called on the Health Minister to:
👍Address underfunding, fragmentation, and critical workforce shortages across neurology
👍Recognise the dangerous waiting times
👍Acknowledge the pressure on overstretched clinicians
👍Publish an implementation plan for the Regional Review of Neurology Services without further delay.
This vote matters.
It shows that the voices of patients, carers, charities, and clinicians are being heard 💪Change is now expected, not optional.
Thank you to every MLA who stood up for the neurological community today 🧡
⏰ Now we need action.
⏰ Now we need investment.
⏰ Now we need the implementation plan delivered — and delivered fast.
